The cora cord is a great midweight that makes it perfect for so many different garments! It has little-to-no drape, with great structure. It has good body with a little movement and give-enough to be comfortable. It’s front face is covered in soft,velvety 4mm ribs. (8 wale-8 ribs per inch). And it’s finish textured and matte. The reverse is slightly textured and nice and soft to wear against skin. Completely opaque.

Corduroy has a strong nap, so your pattern pieces will all need to be cut in the the same direction up and down. Consider if your pattern may require extra fabric.

Suggested Projects: 

Trousers, skirts and structured-to-semi-structured bottoms. Avoid much, or any gathering. Jackets and very light coats. Tunics, pinafores and overalls. Great for designs with cool pockets & seam details.

Special Care:

Cord can get roughed up when worn, sewn or in the post on its way to you. To get the pile to sit flat, gently steam and use a fabric brush to brush the fibres downward to smooth them. Finish all raw edges before sewing or your whole wash will be covered in tiny, corduroy ‘ants.’
