Marnie Blouse + Dress | Tilly & the Buttons

Marnie is a romantic, flowy and super swishy blouse and mini dress that will steal your heart.

The bodice is a breezy smock style with princess seams and gentle gathering under the yokes. The round neckline is finished with bias binding, with an optional ruffle collar. Make it up with dreamy optional undulating tucks on the front yoke and sleeves. The back has a keyhole opening with a button and loop. The sleeves are two-piece full-length bishop style with elasticated hem. There are optional shoulder ruffles for extra drama. Make it up as a blouse or a mini dress.

Keep it simple or add the optional pretty tucks and ruffles, you can customise your Marnie to fit your style.

Supplies

Fabric (see below), matching polyester thread, 1 x 10mm (3/8in) button with shank, 0.6m (5/8yd) x 10mm (3/8in) wide elastic, plus 2 safety pins, sewing machine and basic tools.

Fabric Suggestions

For the version with tucks, choose a fabric that will press well such as lightweight lawn, voile, poplins, linen, seersucker, chambray & double gauze. For the version without tucks, drapier fabrics could be used, like challis, light twill, crepe and satin.
